This isn't the highest quality thing ever, but it doesn't need to be. It gets the job done, and the audio definitely works. You simply have to change some settings (imagine that, you get a new piece of hardware and you have to change a setting to make it work correctly). I would recommend NOT paying 30+ dollars and buying this perfectly adequate adapter instead

At the time of this review, I paid less than 6 dollars. Great price for what else is out on Amazon. I was considering one of the hdmi converters that have the audio and usb to feed audio through but you can also purchase a very cheap auxiliary cable for 2 dollars to do the same thing. Just an extra cable that you can use in your car if you want. Anyway, very inexpensive and works as advertised. I am running it through a October 2009 aluminum macbook.

Before you buy something you should read the specs, see below quote from Apple.
Audio support is only available for MacBook Pro 13/15/17-in. mid-2010 release; iMac 21.5/27-in. early-2010 release

As I read, it displays what is on my MacBook on my LCD TV but there is no sound. It is good for surfing the net but not playing videos. I think iChat will be cool on the big screen but I have not tried it.
