The ebook I have been waiting for for years. Love at first use. August 28, 2008 Terri Aranich I love the Kindle. I have been looking for this for years. I am not a gadget geek, and even I find it easy to use. The buttons and page turners could be positioned a little better, but I am sure that will be taken care of with the 2nd generation. I take it every where I go. I am never without something to read. Being able to read a sample before buying a book is a great feature. When someone tells me about a book they have been reading I can download a sample and see if it interests me. I would recommend the Kindle to anyone that loves to read. Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you.
Kindle is my travel buddy... August 28, 2008 M. G. Robertson (Portland, OR USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I travel all over the world with my Kindle. I travel for business mostly. I enjoy the NY Times every morning, regardless of state/country I am in - I can also get that state/country's newspaper to stay up on local events. I have never had problems with download or Kindle store accessability. The availability of so many different book's is impressive. I can read a book review in the newspaper and get the book within seconds. The availability of fiction and non-fiction books has been great. I also like that fact that other people cannot see which book title I am reading for privacy. I can switch between 10 or more books depending on mood. I appreciate the samples of books to see if I really like it before ordering. I use highlights from books, notations from newspapers/magazines, and the browser to find info quickly during presentations to large groups when I do not have computer wi-fi access. Between my Blackberry and my Kindle, I no longer need my laptop much - just send documents to my Kindle (where I can enlarge the print size). I can check sports scores anytime with the browser in the Kindle. I have access to many books that are large in hardcover editions and too heavy to carry on trips. The light-weight Kindle is easier to read in bed. I can reference materials daily in my work or social life that make me better informed and it is really just my assistant and travel buddy, my Kindle...plus the money I have saved on books by buying them through my Kindle has more than paid for the original Kindle price. Try it you'll like it...
Amazing product August 28, 2008 W. Barnes (Federal Way, WA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had my Kindle for a little over a month and love it. The buttons on every exposed surface and edge take a little while to get used to, but the effort is worth it. The convenience of being able to find and acquire books is amazing. I've read (or re-read) several books that I never would have purchased through more traditional methods. Thank you Amazon for a great product.
THE BEST ITEM I HAVE PURCHASED MAYBE EVER ! August 28, 2008 L. SEKERCHAK (LINCOLN PARK, MI USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I PURCHASED MY KINDLE A FEW MONTHS AGO AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! AS A PERSON WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS IT IS A PLEASURE TO READ AGAIN BECAUSE I CAN HOLD THE KINDLE WITH EASE. IT'S LIGHT WEIGHT MAKES IT EASY TO HOLD FOR A PERSON WITH PAINFUL HANDS. I ALSO LIKE THE ABILITY TO HAVE LARGE PRINT (BAD EYES) WITH EVERY BOOK I READ. I HAVE ALSO FOUND MY READING SPEED HAS INCREASED AS I CONTINUE TO READ WITH THE DEVICE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ITEM TO EVERYONE. SURE IT'S A LITTLE PRICEY INITIALLY BUT THE USE I HAVE ALREADY GOT OUT OF IT HAS MADE UP FOR THE PRICE. A+++
A good way to read books when traveling. August 28, 2008 Michael D. Smith (Gilbert , AZ) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was actually debating whether to give it 3 or 4 stars. I use this product everyday, and I find it a useful tool as well as an entertainment device. I am a field engineer and I travel a bit. This device allows me to carry technical manuals and procedures in a very compact space. There are four reasons for why I didn't give it a higher mark. First, is that when it comes to pictures and schematics, there is no way, that I have found, to enlarge them for easy viewing. Hopefully in the second evolution of this device Amazon will correct this shortcoming. Second, the case doesn't really fit the Kindle well. I think the engineering department needs to take another look at the design. The Kindle falls out way to easily. Third is the selection of kindle books on Amazon. There are many classic titles that I would expect to be available,(Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance). Fourth, there is no reference to original page numbers. This one might be a little picky, but I run across situations where a friend wants me to read a certain page of a book. I have no way of knowing what that page number is on the Kindle. Other than these four shortcomings, I am very happy with it. The battery life is fantastic, books are easy to read, and the shopping experience is very enjoyable,. However be ware, it can be addicting. OK one more problem: #5) I'm a guy, let me have a Black Kindle.
