These blow Skullcandy Skullcrushers out of the water! January 6, 2009 P. Brezinski (Cincinnati, Ohio) I've only had these for two days, but they sound so great that I had to write a review. I purchased these headphones based on all the great reviews they received here on Amazon. The last headphones I purchased were the Skullcandy Skullcrushers. I thought they would be perfect because I love loud music and bass. When I got them, to say they were disappointing would be an understatement (Around twenty dollars more than the HD212s, needed batteries to "power" very generic sounding bass, broke within a couple months, very cheap plastic). So when I got these, I was a little leery as to how they would sound, because the Skullcrushers also received good reviews. Well, I got them, put them on, and I can say that the HD212s by far exceeded my expectations. The bass is amazing. I used the THX Subwoofer Test on the computer, and was in awe. Picked up every note with ease. The lower the note, the harder these hit. Sound exactly like an actual subwoofer. They almost make your inner ear tickle from the vibration. The mids and highs are also very crisp. These are very light, and very comfortable to wear. Some people don't like the long cord. I personally love it. Also, as others have stated, they're very sensitive and pick up everything. I heard the computer reading the CD through them, and the CD spinning as it loaded. I never really knew how big of a difference there was between MP3 quality and CD quality until I put these on. I should add that I frequently use AOL Radio. So I used that and went through all the genres of music, and all of them sounded beautiful on these phones. Not just Rap, Techno, Rock. I haven't used theses on movies yet, but I can't wait to. So, if you're like me, and have been looking for great bass only to be let down in the past, look no further. Even if you aren't a basshead, pick these up now!
Theyre alright but not great. December 28, 2008 Chris Alvarez (California) I bought these since i wanted more bass and clearer sound then the v modas i got for 20 bucks but i was disappointed when i found out these sound weaker. I read all the great reviews of the 201hds and 202s and thought these would be even better but they dont have the bass effect i like. I guess i have to spend more to get good quality cans the 280s are probably a sure bet.
superior sound - solid bass December 26, 2008 Surprise! I use these mostly with hdtv. It converts mediocre quality at best, into concert hall stereo (it is great with dvd's). It is true as has been noted by others, that the ear comfort is less than ideal after an hour or so, but all things considered it is a great pair for the money It comes with a ten foot cord which I extended to 18 ft. with an 8 ft. extension from Radio Shack.Highly recommended.
great headphones December 22, 2008 L. Nikhomvan great bass and vocal i use it for computer use and its the bass so far.
A real bargain December 7, 2008 Don D. I checked out several headphones over the past couple of weeks ranging in price from $25 to $350. It was difficult to find stores that actually had demo phones available. I read some of the reviews on Amazon and thought that the reviews of the Sennheiser line seemed to be fairly positive. As I have a preference for heavier bass, I thought the HD-212's might be a good fit. I found a store in the area that happened to have many of the Sennheiser line available on demo. I was really blown away by the HD-212's. The sound was fantasic particulary at the price. I am not an audio professional but the HD-212's sounded at least as good as many of the much more expensive phones. They also sound great when I connect them to my Yamaha keyboard. I would highly recommend the HD-212 phones for anyone, especially if you like heavier bass. In my opinion though, the bass does not overwhelm the other tones. It is crisp and clear but not overly dominant.
